New drill-less technology gently sprays away decay
Our office offers a new drill-less technology that can be used in many procedures as a more comfortable alternative to the dental drill.
- Less need for injections
- No vibrations
- No whining sound
- Less time in the chair
Thanks to this new technology, we can provide you with attractive, tooth colored fillings faster and easier than ever before.
What is the KCP?
It's a new system that uses a stream of kinetic particles to prepare teeth for restorations. It efficiently prepares cavity sites, removes enamel, dentin and restorative materials as well as preparing surfaces for bonding.
It can normally be used without anesthesia.
How does it work?
The
KCP (kinetic cavity preparation) system employs kinetic energy, the energy of mass in motion. Minute particles of alpha alumina are propelled by compressed air at a rate of more than 4.3 million particles per second and delivered via a lightweight hand piece. Instead of grinding away tooth structure like the drill, the
KCP gently and precisely sprays away decay.
What kinds of procedures can it perform?
The
KCP is used for a number of restorative procedures, including:
- Preparing cavities for composite restorations
- Removing old composite restorations
- Partially removing composite restorations and facilitating rebonding at the failure site
- Preparing pits and fissures for sealing
- Preparing enamel or dentin for bonding (in lieu of etching acid)
What advantages does the KCP offer?
- The KCP allows early intervention and conservation of healthy tooth structure.
- It reduces the need for anesthesia, resulting in greater patient comfort and acceptance of treatment.
- Reduces or eliminates a number of factors contributing to patient discomfort, including pressure, vibration and heat.
